Some of the suggested fishes are bass, cod, eel, haddock, halibut, mackerel, red snapper, salmon, striped bass, and tuna. Basically any other commercially available fish is acceptable. You may also choose from a variety of shellfish like clams, lobster, scallops, and shrimp.
Another core part of the Paleo diet is fruits and vegetables. Basically any fruit you choose is acceptable on this diet. As for vegetables, any root vegetable besides potatoes is especially encouraged. Some highly recommended vegetables are artichokes, beets, broccoli, celery, mushrooms, onions, pumpkin, squash, and all kinds of peppers.
The last category of Paleo foods that are encouraged on this diet is nuts and seeds. They are a very healthy food which also serves as snacks. There are lots of different nuts and seeds to choose from. Some good nuts to try are almonds, cashews, chestnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pine nuts, and unsalted pistachios. Some recommended seeds are pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds. Be sure to select nuts and seeds that are unsalted.
Of course there are some categories of food you should avoid. Dairy foods, cereal grains, legumes, starchy vegetables, salt-containing foods, fatty meats, soft drinks, and sweets are foods that should be excluded when Paleo is you choice of diet.
